Ignite your imagination this holiday season with Alberta Ballet’s grand production of The Nutcracker, December 4 – 8 at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium and December 13-15, 20-24 at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
Join Alberta Ballet on a magical family adventure to the land of the Sugarplum Fairy this Christmas and create memories that will last a lifetime. The most extraordinary way to introduce children to live music, ballet, costuming and storytelling in dance performed by local and international artists – some as young as five-years-old – The Nutcracker will leave you basking in the warm glow of the holiday spirit.
Described as one of Canada’s best interpretations of this holiday classic featuring exquisite dance, spectacular sets, and costumes, over 120 performers of all ages, a live orchestra and Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, this cherished classic has become a long-standing tradition for Alberta families and artists.
“This is the time of year when our ballet family celebrates with all Albertans and becomes part of their holiday traditions“, says Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maitre. “We always look forward to working with a children’s cast of more than 60 students from Alberta Ballet School as well as our friends at the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. It’s magical for everyone.”
Choreographed by Edmund Stripe, Alberta Ballet’s The Nutcracker captures the elements of a Victorian Christmas with classical ballet and dazzling sets and costumes designed by Emmy Award winner Zack Brown.
