In partnership with National Music Centre with support from Scotiabank Backbeat, Lawson Percussive Dance Arts Company is excited to bring live tap dance, body percussion and movement to the Studio Bell for an afternoon of pop-up performances.
The company will activate numerous museum exhibits with tap battles, rhythmic soundscapes, body music, staircase dances, and choreographic compositions, celebrating Canadian icons Oscar Peterson, KD Lang, Diana Krall, and music from around the globe. Live musicians include bass player Kodi Hutchinson and vocalist Johanna Sillanpaa.
Play It Forward, integrates rhythm tap, body percussion and somatic movement practices into a unique visual and rhythmic experience, invigorating the viewers’ senses. LPDAC will have you snapping your fingers, while tapping into the heartbeat of our shared human experience during the pandemic.
