The Aboriginal Curatorial Collective / Collectif des commissaires autochtones (ACC-CCA) is an Indigenous run and led non-profit organization that aims to support and connect fellow Indigenous curators, artists, writers, academics, and professionals through various methods of gathering. The ACC-CCA engages in critical discourses, increases professional opportunities for our members, develops programming, and most importantly works to build reciprocal relationships with Indigenous curators, artists, communities and the institutions we engage with.

The Membership program was developed at the ACC-CCA’s incorporation in 2006 and will now see the implementation of an Institutional Membership Program; Community Membership; and an ACC-CCA Member’s Database.
Community Membership
Our members are artists, curators, art historians and arts professionals who nurture and sustain a presence for Indigenous arts and curatorial practices.
The ACC-CCA considers community members as both Indigenous and non-Indigenous individuals interested in engaging in conversations on Indigenous curatorial practices in Canada and internationally. This membership is free and the ACC-CCA’s staff commits to ensuring that each member is aware of all ACC-CCA opportunities and is invited to our biennial gathering.
Institutional Membership Program
The Aboriginal Curatorial Collective’s (ACC) Institutional Membership Program exists to build stronger relationships with institutions who are currently working with or who are trying to work with Indigenous peoples in their spaces. Each relationship developed through this membership program will be different for each partnership as every institution has different needs.
Through this program, the ACC has the right to directly address institutions that are not implementing recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in good ways to better serve the Indigenous peoples that interact with those spaces.
Membership Levels
ACC-CCA Community Membership (Individual Membership)
The ACC-CCA considers community members as both Indigenous and non-Indigenous individuals interested in engaging in conversations on Indigenous curatorial practices in Canada and internationally. This membership is free and the ACC-CCA’s staff commits to ensuring that each member is aware of all ACC-CCA opportunities and is invited to our biennial gathering.
Friends of the ACC-CCA (Institutional Membership)
Annual review of good ongoing relationship and procedures of working with Indigenous professionals;
Recipient of ACC resources and Institutional Handbook; and
Invitation to Gatherings and ACC events.
ACC-CCA Allies (Institutional Membership)
Annual review of good ongoing relationships and procedures of working with Indigenous professionals;
Recipient of ACC resources and Institutional Handbook;
Ability to have jobs and other opportunities posted on the ACC’s website; and
Invitation to annual gatherings and special events*
ACC-CCA Star Allies (Institutional Membership)
Annual review of good ongoing relationships and procedures of working with Indigenous professionals;
Case by case position description and job development;
Recipient of ACC resources and Institutional Handbook;
Quarterly calls with the ACC to ask questions and get suggestions on good practices;
Ability to have jobs and other opportunities posted on the ACC’s website as well as an individualized write up from the ACC about the opportunity and how the ACC supports it;
Events listings on ACC website and on our social media; and Invitation to annual gatherings, special events and private gatherings.
