SUMMARY:Equity and Access in the Arts (EAC)
DESCRIPTION:Grants for Individuals and Collectives – 2021 \n*Formerly the Cultural Diversity in the Arts Project Grant*\n \nDeadline: 11:59 MDT on June 1\, 2021\n \nThe Edmonton Arts Council is committed to supporting a wide range of artforms and communities. This commitment is guided by Connections & Exchanges: A 10-Year Plan To Transform Arts & Heritage In Edmonton (C&E). The C&E plan includes commitments to increasing support for artists and arts professionals from Indigenous and equity-seeking communities. \nArtists can apply to any Edmonton Arts Council program\, but many also face systemic\, historical\, cultural and/or language barriers to accessing support. This program invests in these artists so they may pursue their artistic work\, advance their skills\, develop and strengthen connections to the broader Edmonton arts community. \nThis program is one way the Edmonton Arts Council pursues our commitments in Connections & Exchanges. It replaces and expands on the previous Cultural Diversity in the Arts programs that had been in place since 2008. \nPurpose\nTo invest in a thriving and diverse arts community in Edmonton by supporting Edmonton based artists and collectives from communities that face barriers to access. This includes\, but is not limited to\, groups whose members are treated differently because of systemic barriers that disadvantage people based on their Indigenous heritage\, the colour of their skin\, their disabilities\, sexual orientation and identity\, and/or immigration status. \nThis program has three distinct streams\, each with its own evaluation criteria and assessment process. Artists may only submit to one stream. \nStream 1: Exploration and Experimentation\nThese $5\,000 grants support an artist to work on solo creation\, experimentation\, or research. \nStream 2: Skills and Career Development\nThese grants of up to $10\,000 support professional development projects for individual artists and collectives. \nStream 3: Major Artist-Driven Projects\nThese grants of up to $25\,000 support artist-initiated projects created by individual artists and collectives \nLevel of Support\n \n\nA combined total of up to $500\,000 will be allocated to the three Streams in this program \nApplication Format \nYour application will be submitted through our online system at eacawards.fluidreview.com. The EAC supports applicants as much as possible to overcome barriers that prevent them from submitting an application\, including language\, ability\, and access a computer or an internet connection. \n\nPlease contact us at grants@edmontonarts.ca or 780-424-2787 if you require assistance in completing your application. \nDownload the Guidelines \nPlease note that these are the guidelines for the 2020 deadline. If there are any changes to the program in 2021\, new guidelines will be available here one month prior to the application deadline.

SUMMARY:Arts Building Operating Grant (EAC)
DESCRIPTION:The City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Arts Council recognize that arts facilities are an important part of the community. As with any public facility\, the costs associated with maintaining it can often exceed what users of that facility can reasonably support on a per-use basis. The Arts Building Operating grant program exists to help ensure these facilities remain accessible by the public in the service of a range of arts activities. \nDeadline: June 1\, 2021 \nWhen this date falls on a weekend or holiday\, the deadline moves to the next business day. \nCompleted application forms and required attachments should be submitted via email to grants@edmontonarts.ca by the deadline. \nPurpose\nThe City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Arts Council recognize that public art facilities such as concert halls\, theatres\, and non-profit art galleries are an important part of the community. The Arts Building Operating grant program exists to help ensure these facilities remain accessible by the public in the service of a range of arts activities. \nThe Arts Building Operating grant will invest in a portion of the costs associated with maintaining clean\, well-lit\, heated and secure arts facilities that are regularly accessible by the public\, whose use is of interest to the public and community groups. These include concert halls\, performing arts venues (i.e. live theatre\, music\, and dance)\, non-profit cinema facilities\, and public art galleries. \nThis program is not intended for capital expenditures\, for endowment purposes\, or to support programming costs. These grants are not intended to support organizations that are primarily training or educational institutions. \nThis program is not intended to replace other funding through the Edmonton Arts Council and/or the City of Edmonton. \nEligibility\nRegistered not-for-profit arts organizations that own or have long-term leases on concert halls\, performing arts venues (i.e. live theatre\, music\, and dance)\, non-profit cinema facilities\, and public art galleries in the corporate limits of the City of Edmonton are eligible to apply. \nDownload the Guidelines \nDownload the Application Form \nRead the FAQ    \n

SUMMARY:2021 EAC Investment in Organizations (Activate)
DESCRIPTION:In late October\, the Edmonton Arts Council published guidelines for two new investment streams – Sustain and Activate – programs that will direct a degree of stable and flexible funding for arts and festival organizations in 2021. The Sustain and Activate pillars are both related to investments in organizations in the short-and medium-term. Those processes are described in the document below\, including guidelines\, dates\, and requirements. \nA third stream – Invent & Adapt – will provide tools\, resources\, and potential investments to enable organizational structures\, governance and business models for the future. Guidelines for this stream are coming soon. \nThe EAC will make investments to sustain operations\, foster artistic and organizational resilience and facilitate dialogue to build organizational innovation and readiness for a gradual return to a wide range of artistic activities. \n2021 Activate \nThe intent is to assist organizations with costs related to work they undertake through the engagement of artists and arts professionals. This investment will help promote organizational resilience during this irregular period. \nApplication Deadline: January 15\, 2021 (Applications will open on Fluid Review in early December) \n>> Click here to download the Activate guidelines.

SUMMARY:How Much? Determining a Price for Your Work (EAC)
DESCRIPTION:Setting a price for your art – whether that’s a professional service\, a performance\, a painting or a chalk drawing – is one of the most complex and important calculations an artist can make. Financial whiz Bill Samoil walks you through the calculations required to adequately cover your costs\, and impresario Bob Rasko helps explore the psychology and dynamics of price negotiations. If you’ve ever wondered if you’re charging too little – or worried that you’re charging too much – join us for this conversation. SUMMARY:2021 EAC Investment in Organizations (Sustain)
\n2021 Sustain \nThe intent is to assist organizations with ongoing costs\, in particular related to engagement of artists and arts professionals. This baseline investment will help maintain organizational capacity through this irregular period. \nApplication Deadline: December 1\, 2020 \n>> Click here to download the Sustain guidelines.

SUMMARY:Equity & Access in the Arts (EAC Grant)
DESCRIPTION:While artists may apply to any Edmonton Arts Council program\, many face systemic\, historical\, cultural and/or language barriers to accessing support. The Equity & Access in the Arts program is designed to invest in a thriving and diverse arts community by supporting Edmonton-based artists and collectives from communities that face barriers to access. This includes\, but is not limited to\, groups whose members are treated differently because of systemic barriers that disadvantage people based on their Indigenous heritage\, the colour of their skin\, their disabilities\, sexual orientation and identity and/or immigration status. \nThis program is one way the Edmonton Arts Council pursues our commitments in Connections & Exchanges: A 10-Year Plan To Transform Arts & Heritage In Edmonton. This program replaces and expands on the previous Cultural Diversity in the Arts programs that had been in place since 2008. \nEquity in the Arts grants for Individuals and Collectives has three distinct streams\, each with its own evaluation criteria and assessment process: \n\nStream 1: Exploration and Experimentation: To support an artist to work on current solo creation\, experimentation or research activities. Grant amounts are fixed at $5\,000 to support subsistence while the artist takes the time to work.\nStream 2: Skills and Career Development: To support professional development and mentorship-based projects for artists and arts professionals. Projects may be solo or collective\, and grants are available up to $10\,000 based on actual or projected project expenses\, including artist subsistence.\nStream 3: Major Artist-driven Projects: To support artist-initiated projects\, including production/presentation that is clearly considered in light of public health advice and restrictions. Projects may be solo or collective\, and grants will be available up to $25\,000 based on projected project expenses\, including artist subsistence.\n\nDeadline: October 15\, 2020 at 11:59 PM MDT \n>> Click here for the guidelines. \n>> You can read more about this new program on the YEGArts Blog.

DESCRIPTION:Deadline: September 1\, 2020\n \nWhen this date falls on a weekend or holiday\, the deadline moves to the next business day. \nThe EATF was established in 1997 by John and Barbara Poole\, Edmonton Community Foundation (through a transfer of funds from the ECF’s Community Fund) and the Clifford E. Lee Foundation\, and was intended to invest in Edmonton’s creative community.
