Pam Tzeng is a choreographer, performer, curator and producer of the live and contemporary. She is a born and raised Calgarian who proudly continues to play and create on the land where the Bow River and Elbow River meet – Mohkinstsis in Treaty 7 Territory.

Pam’s work is an evolving collection of honest and visceral reflections on the politics of the body. Led by her embodied curiosities and lens as a Canadian born Taiwanese woman, Pam graciously traverses charged thematic territories in her work. She invites discomfort and discovery in her process and through the exploration of extremes aims to animate and expose unseen truths. Pam’s practice and aesthetic imagination is coloured by her training in contemporary dance, mask, clown and puppetry. Known for crafting humourous, poignant and urgent dances, her work has been presented across Canada and through the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Recent works include: By Jo-Lee, That ch*nk in y/our armour commissioned by CanAsian Dance KickStart Festival 2018 (Toronto) and CHEERS & TEARS: A Journey Into Whiteness commissioned by Good Women Dance Collective (Edmonton). Pam is Artist in Residence with Dancers’ Studio West for the 2019-2021 seasons.

Pam works as a performer, collaborating with independent choreographers and performing arts companies. She has interpreted and contributed to works by Tania Alvarado, Sara Angius, Denise Clarke, Amelia Ehrhardt, Noam Gagnon, Helen Husak, Nicole Mion, Gerry Morita, Robin Poitras, Kenji Takagi, Stephen Thompson, Making Treaty 7 and The Old Trouts Puppet Workshop.

Pam is the co-director of to the AWE – a recurring risk-based performance series in Calgary and is an arts equity advocate.
