Become an ADA Member...

• Members are Albertans who create, perform, teach, study, socialize/exercise with, and love dance!

• Members are Individuals, Students/Youths, and Organizations from Professional, Recreational, and Educational dance sectors.

• Memberships are annual and renew one year from the date of purchase.

• An INDIVIDUAL Member is a person, 18 years or older, and not an Organization. An Individual is a voting member.

• A STUDENT/YOUTH Member is less than 18 years old and a non-voting Individual Member.

• An ORGANIZATION Member is a dance company, studio, school, collective, club, group, or business (not an Individual or Student/Youth). Organization membership type is determined by annual operating budget: if the budget is $50k or less they are classified as a Small Organization and if the budget is greater than $50k they are classified as a Large Organization. Organizations' members and staff benefit as Affiliate (non-voting) Individual Members. An Organization is a voting member.

• NOTE: Organizations registered at an incorrect budget level, or as an Individual or Student/Youth will be notified and have their membership type corrected and be billed for the outstanding difference. Memberships, profiles, and member posts are moderated by ADA staff in conversation with the member, as required.

Education & Services

• Professional development through consultation in grant research/preparation/editing, administration/business/production management, and career preparation.

• Support through the Professional Development Program for members hosting workshops in technique, professional development, and industry awareness.

• Online job board to post and view employment opportunities for dancers, choreographers, production and support personnel.

• DanceLines eNews, a biweekly electronic newsletter, provides current, up-to-date community news, advocacy alerts, and funding/education/performance/audition information.

• Hosts onTheMOVE and keepOnMOVING with the Dancer Transition Resource Centre (DTRC). Conferences for graduating dance students and dance professionals.

• A link between members and experts in the field of marketing and publicity.

• Meeting rooms available upon request.

Advocacy

• Member of Alberta Partners for Arts and Culture (APAC), a coalition of Alberta’s eight Provincial Arts Service Organizations (PASO) and four Cultural Industry Associations (CIA).

• Advocate for dance in education/curriculum and is an active voice for dance in the Albertan and Canadian cultural and human resources sectors.

• Promote usage of the Canadian Alliance of Dance Artists (CADA) Basic Dance Agreement.

• Advocate alongside municipal, provincial, and federal arts/dance service organizations for increased support to arts/dance in the public and private sector.

• Advocate for Status of the Artist.

• Member of the Canadian Dance Assembly (CDA).

• Participates in Municipal, Provincial and National dance research, expressing members' needs and values.

Awareness

• Provides financial aid via our Community Development Program, including Workshops and Conferences.

• Facilitates all regions in Alberta with their celebrations of International Dance Day on April 29, and is a direct link to the World International Dance Day activities.
