DESCRIPTION:The MZD Progressive Artist Award Nomination: Nominations Now Open \nThe Mile Zero Dance Progressive Artist Award recognizes the achievements of Edmonton-based artists who actively work in the arts and engage with the community in challenging and exciting ways. Award recipients will be chosen by a local panel of adjudicators. \nThe recipient will receive a $1\,000 cash prize\, announced later in our 2022-23 Season\, Carte Blanche. This biennial award was made possible by a gift from private donors in celebration of Mile Zero Dance’s 30th anniversary\, and is now gifted in memory of Harry Garfinkle. \nNominations for the 2023 MZD Progressive Artist Award are now being accepted until December 15th\, 2022. \nGuidelines for Eligibility\nRecipients for this award must:\nBe nominated by an individual or group (nominators may not nominate more than one individual per year)\nBe involved in the Edmonton Arts Community in a professional capacity and have a body of work (in any discipline) that displays innovative\, progressive\, or political intent and/or results. Areas of focus may include: community health\, social equity or change\, colonialism/reconciliation\, dis/ability\, accessibility\, race\, gender\, sexuality\, and environmental or educational issues\nArtists of all ages\, communities\, cultural backgrounds\, and artistic discipline and approaches are encouraged to apply. \nEvaluation Criteria\nNominee fulfillment of eligibility criteria\nNominee’s body of work\nEvidence of nominee’s engagement with broader ideas\, theories\, politics\, and aesthetic issues relevant to the Edmonton region\nImpact of the nominee’s work\, artistically and aesthetically\nSignificance of artist’s impact on the community and Edmonton’s art ecology \nHow to Nominate\nApply with a one-page letter that identifies how the artist has engaged with larger issues\, including specific examples of how the applicant has met the eligibility criteria\, and a list of recent works. SUMMARY:Reggaeton Dance – Studio & Online classes
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Reggaeton class ONLINE every Wednesday 6-7pm! This class is a beginner level class so no experience is needed.  Aya Sol also offers an in studio Reggaeton class on Sundays.  Check our website for more information on our October session for this and other classes! \nREGGAETON originated out of the music scene in Puerto Rico in the late 90’s.  The style is an energetic mix of Latin American\, Hip Hop\, Dancehall and Caribbean styles.  It is a social dance but can also be danced without a partner. \nAYA SOL is an Edmonton based dance company that is building community through education\, movement\, health and fitness.  Styles taught include Hip Hop\, House\, Heels and Reggaeton.  In each class you will learn the foundation\, history and culture of the style.  Aya Sol offers group classes\, private lessons\, workshops and choreography.  Classes are available in studio and online. \nFollow our Facebook and Instagram accounts at ayasol.yeg \nMessage us directly if you have any questions: info@ayasol.ca
