DESCRIPTION:Operating Grant Program\n\nDEADLINE JULY 6\, 2020 \n\n\nResults\nGuidelines\nTerms of Reference\nPolicies\n\nOperating Grant Increase Deadline: July 6\, 2020\, 4:30pm MDT\nApplications Open: May 25\, 2020\nDownload Guidelines as a PDF \nProgram Overview\nThe Operating Grant Program provides stable\, predictable funding to arts organizations in Calgary. Operating Grant funds may be allocated to any area of an organization’s budget and are confirmed on a yearly basis upon the receipt of an interim report until the end of 2022. \nPlease Note: Calgary Arts Development will not be offering the one-time funding program previously known as OG+ to Operating Grant clients in 2020. At this time\, no project funding program for operating grant clients are planned for 2021 or 2022. This will be reviewed annually through budget considerations with The City of Calgary. \nProgram Update\nIn recognition of the impact\, uncertainty\, instability\, and changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic\, organizations will now be asked to reflect on the program criteria through the lens of their current state\, share frankly about how they have adapted their operational and programmatic approaches\, and their current plan and strategy for moving forward. \nIn the Operating Grant program\, the question of strong organizational sustainability and resiliency is one that considers an organization’s capacity to adapt and respond to its environment. Though the context in which investment decisions for the multi-year increases are being made has changed\, the intention of the investment has not. \nHow an organization understands its role in the arts sector and makes decisions demonstrates its capacity to continue contributing to a vibrant\, vital city. \nThough organizations will not be ‘punished’ for the loss of programming and revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, they will be asked to provide up-to-date financial and programming information for the current fiscal year\, as well as forecasts and plans for the future. This will allow the assessment committees to understand the current context in which organizations are making decisions and setting goals. \nThe pool for increases is now $2\,500\,000\, as $500\,000 from this program was redirected to short-term organizational relief. With that amount\, the likelihood of any organization receiving the top end of their originally published range is extremely low. However\, we believe that organizations should still be given the opportunity to make a case for strength and merit and compete for the top of their range. \nWe have expanded the potential ranges to start from the organization’s current base amount up to the top of each category range. The originally published ranges will be used as the target for grant amounts\, but this will allow greater flexibility in applying the proportional distribution formula across the top scoring to the lowest scoring organizations and recognize organizations who make the most exceptional case for increased funding. \nThis will also allow a degree of ‘one-size-fits-one’ negotiation that may be necessary to recognize the unique and unprecedented circumstances arts organizations find themselves in. For more information about the grant allocation process\, please see the Assessment Process section of the guidelines. \nWe strongly recommend that organizations plan for the low end of their category target range until final notification of this program’s results. \nApplications are accepted through the online grant interface. DESCRIPTION:The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s Evolution of the Arts in a Digital World Symposium is coming directly to your homes and offices\, with webinar-style presentations every Wednesday morning starting in September. \nWith experts from organizations like ARUP\, Gallagher & Associates\, and the Edmonton Public Library\, our symposium will showcase local and national digital talents\, and encourage the implementation of digital storytelling and engagement throughout arts organizations. \nWho Should Attend? \nWe encourage arts organizations to join us in national conversation about the ways in which organizations can confidently and creatively include digital technology in their everyday functions. Our symposium is aimed towards a variety of participants\, including: \n\nCEOs who want to understand how to introduce digital initiatives to their organizations in ways that will connect patrons to their organizational purpose and story. \nGeneral Managers who want to understand how to create teams for digital operations\, who needs to be involved in decisions regarding digital initiatives\, and what the end benefits are of going digital.\nEducators who want to expand their outreach activities to include imaginative and curriculum-focused digital learning experiences.\nAudience Engagement Teams who want to find new ways to share their stories with patrons in meaningful\, memorable ways.\nEveryone who wants to understand the power that creatively used technology can have on a patron’s experience at\, memory of\, and affection for an organization.\n\nTogether\, we will learn to navigate digital transformation\, explore relevant and affordable technologies\, and engage with knowledgeable and fascinating presenters. DESCRIPTION:Application period\nYou can apply between June 26\, 2020 and July 27\, 2020 at 3:00 pm Eastern daylight time (EDT). \nEmployment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) will decide who to fund in late September 2020. \nDescription of the funding\nThe Supporting Black Canadian Communities Call for Proposals (CFP) provides capital assistance to Black organizations in Canada to build capacity to: \n\nbetter fulfill their missions\nbetter serve Black communities in Canada\n\nNot-for-Profit organizations that are Black-led\, can apply for up to $100\,000 for: \n\nequipment purchases for work or community spaces\, and/or\nrenovations or retrofits of existing workspaces or community spaces to improve their functionality\n\nEligibility\nEligible organizations are: \n\nare Black-led organizations\nhave a mandate that is Black-focused\nare a legal entity in Canada\nare not-for-profit organizations\n\nYou must demonstrate: \n\nthat your organization is Black-led\, meaning:\n\nthe leadership positions (Directors\, Founders\, etc.) are primarily occupied by people who self-identify as Black (minimum two-thirds)\nthe governance structure (volunteer committee\, advisory board\, eldership circle\, etc.) is primarily composed of people who self-identify as Black (minimum two-thirds)\n\n\nthe ways your mandate supports members of the Black community\n\nMore information and Apply Now
