DESCRIPTION:International Tap Day Celebration \nCALGARY ALBERTA\, May 27-28\, 2023 – Tasha Lawson\, Artistic director of Tri-Tone Productions\, is excited to invite you to our 5th Annual Tap Day Celebration.  \nIn partnership with the National Music Centre and Jaimie Hill & Tammy-Lynn Powers Memorial Foundation\, we bring together over 80 Tap Dancers from across Alberta for an eclectic evening of rhythm and expression\, honouring the legacy of Tap Legend\, the late Bill “Bojangles” Robinson. \nThe focus of the weekend is to develop a vibrant\, inspired\, and inclusive tap dance community\,  \nto create a platform for the creation and presentation of new work\, and to advance and celebrate rhythm tap and the percussive arts in Alberta. Tap Day is a community-oriented event\, welcoming rhythmic artists\, musicians and spectators of all ages. \nThis year also marks the 10th Anniversary of the Tri-Tone Rhythm Ensemble\, Calgary’s pre-professional intensive tap training program\, so we have expanded our Tap Day Celebrations to include community workshops and two performances at the National Music Center.  \nWe invite you to join us for our concert presentations of “DOUBLE TIME”; a double bill featuring: \nThe 5th Annual Tap Day Community Concert and Tri-Tone Rhythm Ensemble’s 10th Anniversary.  \nAct 1 will present Tap Dancers from across Alberta\, including music selections of jazz greats\, classical icons\, and contemporary artists. Act 2 will share a compilation of Tri-Tone works from the past decade\, taking the viewer through a retrospective\, rhythmic journey.   \nNational Tap Day was first presented to U.S. Congress on February 7\, 1989 and was signed into US-American law by President George H.W. Bush on November 8\, 1989. It is now celebrated internationally every year\, from Tokyo to New York City and throughout Canada\, Europe and Asia. Tap dance enthusiasts\, students\, and professionals come together to celebrate the art form with performances\, workshops\, tap jams and more. SUMMARY:Reggaeton Dance – Studio & Online classes
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Reggaeton class ONLINE every Wednesday 6-7pm! This class is a beginner level class so no experience is needed.  Aya Sol also offers an in studio Reggaeton class on Sundays.  Check our website for more information on our October session for this and other classes! \nREGGAETON originated out of the music scene in Puerto Rico in the late 90’s.  The style is an energetic mix of Latin American\, Hip Hop\, Dancehall and Caribbean styles.  It is a social dance but can also be danced without a partner. \nAYA SOL is an Edmonton based dance company that is building community through education\, movement\, health and fitness.  Styles taught include Hip Hop\, House\, Heels and Reggaeton.  In each class you will learn the foundation\, history and culture of the style.  Aya Sol offers group classes\, private lessons\, workshops and choreography.  Classes are available in studio and online. \nFollow our Facebook and Instagram accounts at ayasol.yeg \nMessage us directly if you have any questions: info@ayasol.ca
