About Us

The Alberta Dance Alliance (ADA) is a provincial service organization that exists to foster and promote the appreciation and practice of dance in Alberta. Created in 1984, ADA provides education, awareness and advocacy through programs, events and services.

In 1996, Alberta Community Development and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts officially named ADA as the provincial arts service organization (PASO) for the dance communities across Alberta.
ADA is a registered non-profit organization, incorporated under the Societies Act of the Province of Alberta.
The Alberta Dance Alliance aims to:
  • raise the profile of dance
  • facilitate the development of a solid communications network
  • provide up-to-date resource information and education services
  • provide consultative services for the profession and practice of dance
  • enhance the awareness of dance in Alberta
  • advocate for the profession and practice of dance
  • contribute financial support for workshops
  • provide a voice for dance politically and socially
  • advocate for the status of the dance artist
  • partner with national, provincial and municipal dance and arts organizations

Claire Lint is a choreographer, instructor and dance artist based in Lethbridge, Alberta. Claire is a graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts and upon completion of her post secondary education worked on and off the stage in dance and theatre. In 2015, Claire co-founded the Lethbridge Society of Independent Dance Artists (LSIDA), where she currently sits as Secretary on the Board. In addition to her work in community, she continues to develop her personal practice as a dance artist and strives to share her wealth of technical knowledge and passion for movement through her work as a dance educator.

Secretary – SUSANNA BIRO, Edmonton

Susanna Biro has performed in the folkdance realm (professional and community) and has choreographed, directed, and instructed Hungarian folkdance for nearly 40 years. Her most recent choreography, Zoborvideki Asszonyok, premiered in Calgary in 2016 and toured to Vancouver in 2017. Susanna also has served the dance community on numerous arts peer juries and in workshops, and she works as a professional editor and technical editor.

Naren Ganesan, Indian classical dancer / choreographer, art enthusiast, founder and director of Sanskriti foundation. Naren is passionate about bringing art and Artist together by providing opportunities and creative space.
