Edmonton, AB – Student Summer Administrative Intern/Assistant

  • Job Description: Mile Zero Dance (MZD) is a contemporary dance company that creates and produces original dynamic interdisciplinary works focusing on performance, collaboration, community outreach, and training.

A mainstay in the Edmonton arts community for the past 31 years, MZD plays an active and valuable role in collaborations and audience development that has spanned a multitude of demographics and artistic media. MZD is looking for a full-time (30hrs/week) Temporary Admin Intern/Assistant through the Alberta Government Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) from August 1-31, 2017 to assist with basic office work and preparations for launching MZD’s 2017-2018 Season.

Duties for this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintaining and sorting mailing, email and membership lists
  • Basic office work including file organization and preparation for upcoming season
  • Helping with mail outs
  • Assisting with email, phone and in-person inquires
  • Assisting with rentals of MZD’s space
  • Maintaining basic upkeep of MZD’s space (Spazio Performativo)

Eligible applicants must:

  • Possess good organizational and time management skills
  • Be friendly and be able to engage with public comfortably
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment

The job requires maintaining consistent office hours at our main location, but work can be completed remotely.

Medicine Hat, AB – Dance Instructors

Medicine Hat College’s non-credit dance program within the Conservatory of Music and Dance is seeking to fill the following positions to build and achieve the passion and dreams of dancers:

  • Full time RAD certified ballet instructor

  • Full time and part time dance instructors for ballet, competitive/recreational hip hop, tap, jazz, lyrical and/or modern classes; Additional forms of dance include musical theatre and acro

As a member of the dance team, these positions will teach dance theory, demonstrate practical techniques for classes, and observe and offer suggestions to dance students of various ages on how to improve their dance techniques. These positions will also choreograph dance pieces for performance, direct rehearsals, organize performances for the community, and support and assist the dance team with the promotion and retention strategies of the Conservatory programs.

Dance Instructor positions commence September 1, 2017. Full time positions come with an attractive benefits package. Dance Instructor positions are annually renewable subject to performance reviews and student enrolments.

Recent years’ enrolments suggest the potential for significantly more than the 700 teaching hours over 32 weeks that constitutes a full-time position at the Conservatory. Remuneration is on an hourly fee-for- student/class basis. The hourly rate of pay will be dependent upon the incumbent’s qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant dance certifications; Diploma or degree within a related field is preferred

  • RAD certification is required for the full time ballet instructor position

  • Prior experience as a professional dancer and/or dance teacher with a versatile dance background

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and team building skills

  • All combinations of education and experience will be considered

Beaumont, AB – Children's Dance Instructor

The Town of Beaumont is currently looking for a children’s dance instructor. This position is an opportunity to bring the joy of dance to young performers' lives. We are seeking a candidate for the fall 2017 season who will be available Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., with the potential for Wednesday evenings.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop course material and curriculum

  • Instruct classes, communicating clearly to participants

  • Create a positive, encouraging, fun learning environment

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for community dance programming

  • Proficient skill and knowledge in the area of instruction

  • High degree of creativity, flexibility and problem-solving ability

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to interact with program participants in a positive and professional manner

Qualifications:

  • Training and/or education in dance. Such as basic dance, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Ballet

  • Previous experience instructing dance and working with children ages 2–11 years

Grand Prarie, AB – Dance Instructors

I am looking for teaching graduates that would consider employment in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The position would ideally suit RAD registered teachers although it is not a prerequisite. Teachers also able to teach other disciplines such as Modern, Jazz, Tap, Acro or Hip Hop would be greatly desirable. If necessary, room and boarding may be arranged. This position would commence in August or September 2017.

The GP Dancer's Academy has been operating in Grande Prairie for over 27 years. The position could be from 25–35 hours per week depending on the candidate's abilities. Competitive choreography would be in addition to the regular classes. Compensation would be between $30 and $40 per hour depending on experience.

Cold Lake, AB – Dance Teacher-Choreographer (Jazz and/or Tap)

Pirouette School of Dance is seeking a qualified and accredited dance teacher-choreographer in Jazz and/or Tap disciplines for the 2017-2018 dance season.

Reporting to a Board of Directors, the successful candidate will possess:

  • ADAPT certification but CDTA or ISTD will also be considered
  • Experience teaching dancers of all ages
  • Minimum 1 year experience teaching and choreographing
  • Excellent communication skills, be professional, and able to work alone or as a team
  • Prepare dancers for Jazz and Tap exams

Wage: Dependent on experience and training Hours: 10+hrs/week in studio.
