Get ready to celebrate on April 29! Each year the Alberta Dance Alliance highlights dance across the province, aiming to raise the profile of Alberta’s vibrant dance community. Started in 1982 by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute, International Dance Day (IDD) aims to cross political, cultural and ethnic barriers. Celebrated on April 29th, International Dance Day is held on the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810) the creator of modern ballet. Get Involved Studios, Companies, Dance Groups, consider hosting your event on International Dance Day. The Alberta Dance Alliance will assist with promotion of your event.
